Respect is bad for the person who receives it and for the person who offers it.
Because respect belongs to the category of ego.
Ego is an artificial concept. One of the poisons of mind. It is an artificial concept because the birds are not bothered about it. The birds live in natural way of Gods.

Respect belongs to personality.
Self respect belongs to individuality.
Respect is external and artificial.
Self respect is internal and original.
The explanation is true only to a certain extent. The Buddha had none of these.
